Understanding Your Plans & Billing Page

Your Plans & Billing page is where you manage your TaxCloud subscription: what plan you're on, how much of your plan you've used this term, your payment method, and your invoice history.

Your current plan

At the top of the page, you'll see:

  • Your current plan name and tier
  • Your plan price and billing frequency
  • Your payment method on file
  • Your next payment date

To change plans, select Change Plan. You'll see a full comparison of what's included at each tier before you confirm a switch.

Order and filing usage

Below your plan details, TaxCloud shows how much of your plan you've used this billing term:

  • Orders: the number of orders processed against your plan's order limit, shown as a progress bar with "X of Y used"
  • Filings: the number of returns filed against your plan's filing limit, shown the same way. If you're on TaxCloud's nationwide filing add-on, this shows Unlimited instead of a limit.

Each row shows the date your usage resets for the current term. Orders and filings track separately, and filings can run on their own period if your filing add-on's term doesn't line up with your plan's billing term.

If your usage doesn't load, you'll see a message asking you to try again rather than a stale or incorrect number. Refresh the page or check back shortly.

What happens if you go over your plan limit

If your order volume or filing count surpasses your plan's limit during a billing period, TaxCloud bills an overage fee for each unit above your limit upon the next billing period. You'll see this called out when you select or confirm a plan.

Overages are billed à la carte: each order or filing above your limit is charged individually, at a rate prorated from your plan's price. Your overage rate depends on which plan you're on, so upgrading to a higher tier can lower your per-unit overage cost even if your usage stays the same.

If you're consistently running over your limit, consider upgrading to a higher tier. Select Change Plan to compare Starter and Premium side by side, along with any add-ons like nationwide filing.

Invoices and payment history

Scroll down to Invoices to see your billing history, download past invoices, and confirm what you were charged for a given period.
