## What you'll need

* **QuickBooks Desktop 2024** (Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise) on **Windows**. QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is not supported, and QuickBooks Online uses a [different TaxCloud integration](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/quickbooks-online-MU7Bk5FUYQ).
* **A TaxCloud account** on a plan that includes the QuickBooks Desktop integration.
* **A Windows PC** that meets the plugin's install requirements (see **[Install the TaxCloud QuickBooks Plugin](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/install-the-taxcloud-quickbooks-plugin-9q9kyzkynC)**). 

You set up **one TaxCloud connection per business** (one per EIN and its QuickBooks company file), then install the plugin on each PC that creates invoices.

## Getting started

Work through these in order:


1. **[Set up your TaxCloud account](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/set-up-your-taxcloud-account-for-quickbooks-desktop-qPQgfTk5ES)** — add a QuickBooks Desktop connection and get the Connection ID and API key the plugin needs. Once per business.
2. **[Install the TaxCloud QuickBooks Plugin](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/install-the-taxcloud-quickbooks-plugin-9q9kyzkynC)** — install on each PC that creates invoices, enter your credentials, and grant it access to your company file.
3. **[Calculating and capturing tax](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/calculating-and-capturing-tax-in-quickbooks-desktop-1YWKditL4Z)** — run a test invoice and see how tax is added on every save.

## Before you go live

Set these up **before** you start invoicing in production, so tax is correct from your first real sale:
