# Updating to TaxCloud's new Shopify App (June 2024)

We are excited to announce the release of a new TaxCloud app for Shopify, designed to offer a smoother and more reliable experience. As per Shopify's policy, the previous TaxCloud apps will be disabled after a transition period, so **you must download the new app from the Shopify app store by August 1st**.

## Who needs to do this?

* Anyone currently using a TaxCloud Shopify app that was downloaded ***prior to June 4th, 2024***.
* The newest TaxCloud app's name is __"TaxCloud Sales Tax Automation"__
  * If your TaxCloud app in Shopify is named *TaxCloud \[Legacy\]* or just *TaxCloud,* ***you must update your app***

## What do you need to do?

To ensure a seamless transition, please follow the instructions in the video below to delete the current app and reinstall the new one. The current version will be discontinued on August 1st, which means the connection between TaxCloud and your Shopify store will be severed if not updated before the previous app is completely sunset.

## Here’s how you can do it:


1. **Log out of your TaxCloud account first.**
2. Delete the current TaxCloud app from each of your Shopify stores; [How to uninstall a Shopify app](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/apps/uninstalling-apps)
3. Download the [new TaxCloud app](https://apps.shopify.com/taxcloud-sales-tax-automation) for *__each__* *of your stores*
4. Log in to your TaxCloud account

1. **Delete the current TaxCloud app from each of your Shopify stores; [How to uninstall a Shopify app](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/apps/uninstalling-apps)**

a. Go to your Shopify Dashboard > Select `App` from left side menu bar

b. From the menu that appears from the search bar, select `App and sales channel settings` at the bottom

c. Locate the current TaxCloud app under installed > select the `3 dots` to the right on the right > select `uninstall`

d. A pop will appear > confirm and select `Uninstall` again > You'll see a green banner confirming successful uninstallation


2. **Download the [new TaxCloud app](https://apps.shopify.com/taxcloud-sales-tax-automation) for *__each__*** ***of your stores*.**

a. Follow link above > select `Install` button > a new tab will open

b. Select `Install` button again > you'll be directed to TaxCloud login or the TaxCloud dashboard


3. **Log in to your TaxCloud account**

a. Go to Stores > select `get details` on your Shopify store

b. Locate the link icon under "Platform" and you'll see *"Store is linked"*

c. Go to your Shopify *Apps & Sales Channels* window & refresh the page > you should see TaxCloud Sales Tax Automation app present

d. Click on it and locate "App History" to see "*app installed - Just now"*
