Marking Customers Exempt in Adobe Commerce

To ensure an exempt customer is not taxed, add the customer's exemption certificate to TaxCloud and mark the customer exempt in Adobe Commerce.

Step 1: Set up the exemption certificate in TaxCloud

1. Add the customer's exemption certificate to TaxCloud. See this article for details.
2. Locate and copy the Exemption Certificate ID generated by TaxCloud. You'll need this ID to link the exemption certificate to your Adobe Commerce exempt customer.

Step 2: Mark the customer exempt in Adobe Commerce

1. In Adobe Commerce, navigate to Customers > All Customers.
2. Edit the customer's account information to add the TaxCloud exemption certificate ID.
