:::info Please note that when you are doing returns via CSV, the TIC used in the return must match the TIC used in the original order.

Below are some examples of changes for a partial return:

Assume you upload a CSV file with 2 transactions (DVD + Shipping for each)

You can later upload a CSV to do a partial return and a full return

Or you can do a partial return and a new transaction

The example below shows how to return the shipping

Below’s example shows a line item representing 3 DVDs and a return of 2 of the 3 DVDs

Here is a partial amount or discounted example. The first line shows the original upload and the second line shows the partial refund. Please note that dates on the partial refund were changed to reflect the return date.

In order to return part of a line item, find the CartItemQty value by dividing the CartItemPrice amount you'd like to return by the initial CartItemPrice, and adding a negative sign to that value. For example, for this DVD return, if $18.71 was returned to the customer, you’d divide 18.71 by 24.95. This gives you a CartItemQty of -0.75.

Leave the CartItemTaxAmount line blank on the return row. TaxCloud will automatically calculate a prorated return tax amount.
