## Before you begin

Complete the following steps before you set up the integration to ensure that it works as intended.

### Complete TaxCloud setup

Your TaxCloud account must be set up so that the integration works correctly.


1. Sign into [TaxCloud](https://app.taxcloud.com/).

### Look up Taxability Information Codes for your products

Taxability information codes (TICs) help determine whether sales tax applies to the products you sell. Assigning the correct TICs to the goods and services that you sell allows TaxCloud to apply accurate:

* Sales and use tax rates
* Product and service exemptions
* Sales tax holidays

Use our [Taxability Information Codes page to look](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/taxcloud-taxability-information-codes-tic-U1KLuHTyNq) up your goods/services.

* If there is one TIC that matches all the products that you sell, you can use that code as the default for the integration during the setup process. In this scenario, the default TIC can be 0 (taxed) or a specific TIC.
* If your goods and services don’t match one TIC, you can [assign a specific TIC to each product in your Miva store](https://support.miva.com/hc/en-us).

## Step 1: Add Miva to your TaxCloud account

In TaxCloud, set up the connection to Miva.


1. Go to the **[Integrations](https://app.taxcloud.com/go/integrations)** page.
2. Click **Add Connection**, then click **Miva**.

   In the top-right corner, click **Add**.

   a. Enter a **Name** for the integration.

   This name is used for identification purposes in TaxCloud. For example, if you have multiple integrations connected the name helps you differentiate them.

   b. Enter the **URL** of your store.

   c. Enter the **Taxability Information Code (TIC)** that best fits the goods or services that you sell so that TaxCloud can identify and properly tax items. You should have already researched TICs in Before you begin.
   * To search for TICs, expand **Need Help Finding your Taxability Information Code (TIC)**?
   * If there is no match, enter **0**. This will set items to taxable.
3. Click **Finish Setup**.
4. At the bottom of the page under TaxCloud API, note the **ConnectionID**. You'll need it later to authenticate with Miva.

## Step 2: Create an API Key for the integration

Create an API key to authenticate Miva with your TaxCloud account. You will enter this key in Miva later in the configuration process.


1. Navigate to **[Developer > API](https://app.taxcloud.com/go/api-center)**.

3. Give the key a name, such as "Miva".
4. Click **Finish Setup**.
5. Copy the new **API key**. You'll need it later to authenticate with Miva.

## Step 3: Configure Miva to use TaxCloud for tax calculations

**Follow [Miva's instructions](https://support.miva.com/hc/en-us/articles/37874456568212-TaxCloud)** to **set TaxCloud as the tax provider** for your store.

## Step 4: Send a test order

After you finish setting up the integration, it’s a good idea to send a test order from Miva to make sure the transaction appears in TaxCloud and taxes are calculated as expected.


1. In Miva, send a test order.
2. In TaxCloud, verify that the transaction appeared.

   
   1. Go to the [Transactions](https://app.taxcloud.com/go/transactions) page.
   2. Click **Advanced Search**.
   3. Check **Only Test Transactions**.
   4. Locate the test transaction. Click the transaction to view more details.

## Step 5: Set the Miva connection live in TaxCloud

After you’re done testing, you can set the connection live in TaxCloud. After this point, all captured transactions are included in reporting and tax remittance.


1. In TaxCloud, go to the **[Integrations](https://app.taxcloud.com/go/integrations)** page.
2. Click the Miva connection.
3. In the top-right corner of the page, click **Go Live**.
