Audit support is available for users on both the Starter and Premium plans, ensuring that businesses of all sizes have access to necessary audit assistance.

### How does Audit Support handle an SST State audit?

* SST audit assistance: TaxCloud will serve as the primary point of contact for any SST (Streamlined Sales Tax) state audits, except in states where you have a physical presence.
* Physical presence states: In SST states where your business has a physical presence, you will be the point of contact, while TaxCloud provides direct filing audit support.
* Audit resolution: TaxCloud will work directly with the SST state to resolve the audit, potentially requesting documentation, product descriptions, exemption certificates, and other necessary information from you.
* Audit findings communication: We will communicate the audit findings to you and collaborate to either secure a refund or arrange payment of any balance due.

### What’s included with Audit Support for direct filing (non-SST) states?

* Amended tax returns: Up to 12 amended tax returns are provided for any period under audit that TaxCloud filed on your behalf.
* Non-SST direct filing audit support: You receive 8 hours of audit support, including research on Tax Information Codes (TICs), report reconciliation, law changes, tax rates, and exemption documentation.

Note: Any time exceeding 8 hours of non-SST audit support will be billed at $200/hour.

### Audit areas where TaxCloud cannot assist:

* TaxCloud cannot offer audit/tax advice or assist in strategizing an audit defense.
* We will not complete a power of attorney (POA) to represent your company.
* TaxCloud cannot serve as the primary contact for an audit.
* We do not assist with determining use tax on purchases.
* TaxCloud cannot assist with transactions not processed by TaxCloud.
* TaxCloud cannot join conferences, meetings, or hearings with the state.
