# Reconnecting the QuickBooks Online integration after auth invalidation

TaxCloud stays connected to QuickBooks Online automatically. It refreshes your authorization on a rolling basis. You only need to reconnect when that authorization fully lapses. The most common causes:

* The connection sat unused long enough for the authorization to expire.
* Someone disconnected TaxCloud from inside QuickBooks Online (**Apps → Connected apps**).
* The QuickBooks password or admin access changed in a way that revoked the app's access.

When this happens, TaxCloud can no longer sync orders until you reauthorize. Your existing configuration — including your TIC and other settings — is preserved, so reconnecting is quick.

## Reconnect the integration

You only need to reauthorize the connection. You do **not** need to repeat the rest of the [original setup](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/connecting-taxcloud-to-quickbooks-online-hA4mcidlgL#Step-2-Set-up-the-connection-in-TaxCloud-11hgx).

1. In TaxCloud, go to the [Integrations](https://app.taxcloud.com/go/integrations) page.
2. Open your existing **QuickBooks Online** connection.
3. In the top-right corner, click **Disconnect**. Then, click on **Connect** to reconnect your store again.

4. When prompted, sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
5. If you have multiple QuickBooks Online companies, select the same company you connected originally and click **Next**.
6. Click **Connect** to authorize. You'll return to the Integrations page.

That's it. Because you're reconnecting an existing connection, your TIC and other settings carry over — there's no need to set them again.

## After you reconnect

While the connection was down, any orders in that window may not have synced to TaxCloud. Please contact TaxCloud’s support to run a backfill on the missed orders for you.

:::info
If you're unsure how far back to go, re-extract from the last confirmed sync date to today.

## Troubleshooting

### **The authorization window won't complete or keeps looping**

This is occasionally a browser caching issue. Clear your cache and cookies for the last 7 days, fully quit your browser, open a new window, and retry the steps above.

### **You get an error selecting the company**

Make sure you're signing in to the same QuickBooks Online company you originally connected. Connecting a different company creates a separate connection rather than restoring the existing one.

### **Still can't reconnect**

[Contact TaxCloud support](https://support.taxcloud.com/en-us/articles/how-to-contact-taxcloud-2kOI9DHHRK) with your account details and the approximate time the connection stopped syncing.
