Does Washington B&O (excise) Tax Appear in Your TaxCloud Reporting?
Overview
If you file taxes in Washington, you may notice that your Business & Occupation (B&O) tax does not appear anywhere in your TaxCloud dashboard or Tax Reporting page.
This is expected.
TaxCloud files Washington taxes using two separate processes, and they display differently:
- Sales & Use Tax – filed through the SST system and visible in your TaxCloud reporting.
- B&O Tax – filed directly with Washington by our Direct File team and not visible in TaxCloud.
What You Will See in TaxCloud
Your TaxCloud Tax Reporting page includes:
- Sales tax collected
- Use tax collected
This page does not include:
- Washington B&O tax
- Any excise taxes
- Any gross receipts–based taxes
How Washington Taxes Are Filed Through TaxCloud
Sales & Use Tax (SST Filing)
- Filed electronically through the Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) system
- Includes only sales and use tax
- Fully visible in your TaxCloud account
B&O Tax (Direct File)
- The B&O tax is an excise tax based on gross receipts
- It is not part of the taxes remitted through the Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) system
- It is filed separately by our Direct File team directly in the Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) portal
- This filing contains only the B&O excise tax, not your sales tax amounts
- Because this filing is not related to Sales & Use tax and is a separate from the filing being done for WA for Sales & Use tax, it does not appear in TaxCloud
Where to View Your B&O Filing
Since B&O is filed directly in the state system, you can view your B&O details by logging into:
➤ Washington Department of Revenue – MyDOR Portal
Is Anything Missing From My TaxCloud Reporting?
No.
Your TaxCloud reporting accurately reflects all sales and use tax data submitted to Washington via SST.
B&O is based on gross receipts sales & simply filed through a different system and shown only in your state portal.
