Sales Tax Holidays & Product Codes (TICs)

TaxCloud should automatically include any relevant TICs for state Sales Tax Holidays, however, you will need to ensure you're using an included Taxability Information Code (TIC) for your items.

TIC 0 for "general merchandise" is usually not exempted, as many states have exclusions for items that are not tax-exempt during these holidays, so exempting TIC 0 would cause excluded items to be tax-free as well.

To see what TICs are tax-free during a particular Sales Tax Holiday, you can check the list right in your TaxCloud account.

  1. Log in at https://app.taxcloud.com/sign-in.
  2. On the home page/dashboard, scroll down until you see the section titled "Sales Tax Holidays."
  3. You will see a listing of current and upcoming Sales Tax Holidays, where you can click the down arrow to the right to see a listing of what TICs are included in that particular state's holiday.

If you need to check our main TIC listing for your products, or for more detailed descriptions, you can check our TaxCloud Taxability Information Codes (TIC) article here in our Help Center.

For any questions or concerns, you can reach out to TaxCloud Support via email at service@taxcloud.net.

Please note that TaxCloud cannot advise you on which particular TIC to use for your products. If you have questions about the taxability of your items, we'd recommend speaking with a CPA, or the state Department of Revenue directly. We have contact info for all states here.
