How can I enroll in Filing in Louisiana?

To submit your request please reach out to customer support, with the following:

  1. State sales tax ID
  2. State portal login credentials
    1. Username
    2. Password
  3. Filing frequency
  4. Filing starting period
  5. It is important to know the following:
    1. A merchant with a physical nexus in LA should register as a direct seller.

A merchant with an economic nexus in LA should register as a remote seller.

      • When a merchant registers as a direct seller, they must register with the state of LA and each applicable LA jurisdiction, separately.
        • We do not currently support registration for a sales tax ID in individual Louisiana jurisdictions.
      • If you are requesting that we file in LA on your behalf as a direct seller, share
        • The state's login credential
        • Each jurisdiction's login credentials
      • If you are requesting that we file in LA on your behalf as a remote seller
        • Share the state's login credentials.
        • TaxCloud would file the jurisdictions' sales tax liability on the state return

Can TaxCloud help me get registered in Louisiana?

Yes, we can help you get registered for a state sales tax license in LA. At this time, we do not support registrations in LA parishes.

Is there a fee to file?

Yes! As we mention here, new customers to TaxCloud have the option to “pay as you go” for filings, where they are billed in the next invoice following the filing submission to the state/jurisdiction; or to sign up for a filing subscription plan that will provide savings on the cost per filing as the volume of filings increases, and discounts for annual subscriptions.

  • There will be a surcharge of $30 for Louisiana, charged in arrears each month after the returns are filed.
  • This surcharge is above and beyond the subscription price.
    • For example, a merchant on the monthly plan for 5 returns pays $169. TaxCloud completes five returns for them, one of which is for Louisiana. On their next invoice, they will see a Louisiana surcharge of $30 as a line item for the previous month.
